Machinal
Play by Sophie Treadwell
Machinal is an expressionist play written in 1928, inspired by the real-life execution of Ruth Snyder. It discusses the place of a woman in society at the time, the pressures put upon women and the progression towards a more mechanical, automated society. This design focusses on the isolation and overwhelm felt by the women within this world.
